The past few months I have wondered about one specific craze millions of people are partaking in. This craze is a website full of status updates, not really anything else but these posts where people tell their online friends what exactly they are doing. Obviously most of you know what I am talking about, Twitter.
I first noticed this new so called "online sensation" on ESPN. I don't really watch to much TV, but I thought it was so odd when ESPN broadcasters had a whole conversation about a certain football players tweets he had posted. They went on talking about it, they told the viewers to 'tweet' back to ESPN explaining there views on the football players tweets.
I do not have a twitter account, nor do i plan on one for awhile. My only real concern or question is this: Will this world eventually become so technologically dependent, that we will never really get out and converse with people face to face. I'm not bashing on any of this stuff, I just don't like how people skills are slowly losing value, while internet chat is taking over.

I completely agree with you, Drew. Twitter seems to be the newest thing, but I personally do not understand it. Facebook and myspace have already taken off, but twitter seems to be even less interacting. I have never “twitted” but I think that you can chat at least on facebook, when on twitter you just get to see what people are doing. I enjoyed reading your point of view on the overtaking craze, and I agree with what you are saying. I do believe that the internet is going to grow in even more crazy ways, other than just social networking. Internet is not the only thing doing this, machines and automation are also a large part.
ReplyDeleteYea I hear what your sayin bout twitter...it just seems really stupid to me, plus u can have "status updates" on facebook which is essentially the same thing. But for all those people who think the world is going to become so dependent on technology that no one will be able to function properly socially is just listening to what the media says. Im sure in 20 years people will still be able to carry on a conversation with one another.
ReplyDeletei agree twitter seems to be the "new" thing. I also do not have a twitter nor will I get one. I think it is a waste of people time to update what they are doing with useless informations all day. I try to live my life totally the opposite of twitter i want as little people knowing what I am doing as possible. haha
